• It came with adapter plates but i traced plate on 1/4 inch plastic sheet for more clearance. Yes flat plate is ok.

• The tweeter does slightly extend above the edge of the speaker. You can download the manual from the product page linked below, it shows you the image. Most grilles will have a slight dome to them, so you should be OK. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Speakers/A-Series/TS-A4671F
