The age of the speakers do not matter as long as they are in good shape. The only reason anyone would want a subwoofer is for bass. If you feel you are getting good quality low bass tones from your existing speakers then you my friend are good to go. On the other hand if you feel the need to actually feel the rumble such as when let's say an explosive scene occurs like in action movies or when listening to music with deep low bass frequencies as is found in most rap music and your insides rattle then a subwoofer is for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you will probably have to read the manual to fully understand how to set it up. And the subwoofer output can be turned off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will work fine. At some time you would find it really nice to add a subwoofer. It makes a world of difference when watching movies.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Possibly. It would depend on how your full range speakers perform. If they are able to reach those lower Hz ranges then yes. You can also tune the settings in the speaker setup menu to be classified as "large" speakers so the receiver knows to send those signals out instead of going to a subwoofer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can set this system up with NO subwoofer so that it utilizes the full dynamic range (whatever that may be) of your existing speakers. Very easy to do, I might add.
