• the tv cuts itself off after 2 hours of inactivity but you can adjust that in settings. there is also a custom setting where you can adjust the picture.

• Hi Brian, Sadly, there is no option to dim the backlight. This TV has a sleep timer make sure that the sleep timer is not turned on. Press Settings, select Screen Saver \ Sleep timer, then change the settings to Off.
