Yes you can control the volume via your phone as long as your volume button is already up on the radio.

Your phone will only turn it up so loud after that you have to use the radios volume button or the remote. The volume botton is not that small. I’ve had the redio for about a month or so. It’s nice, sounds great & a great factory radio replacement. It’s a great touch screen and user friendly.
