Not at all, it still allows any usb music player to plug in or connect via bluetooth to play a wide range of digital media through the deck. You can also insert a CD or DVD to play. Apple CarPlay is simply an app that interacts exclusively with iPhones to offer a separate option for navigation, playing music on the phone, and interacting with Siri to read and send iMessages hands-free.
