It’s a faulty product, return it and try to get your money back. Do not exchange it like how I did only to get another faulty one .

I bought mine and it's worked fine. I have a smaller LED that uses the same style of batteries and they all fine in this new unit. I'd suggest exchanging it at the store. Also before you leave ask to try the charged battery in the new unit to see if it powers up. If that doesn't the. It was the battery in the old unit.
