no. you need a solar filter for an eclipse and those run for around double the price of the polarizer (you can find them at bhphotovideo.com).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NO you should not! You need a SOLAR FILTER. When viewing or photographing the partial phases of a solar eclipse or the maximum phase of an annular eclipse, you must use a solar filter. Even if 99% of the sun is covered by the moon, the remaining 1% crescent is dangerous to view with the naked eye and can cause serious eye damage or blindness.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nooooooooooooooooo. (Not alone at least) To photograph the eclipse you would need a powerful neutral density filter., and I mean one with 16 3/5 stops so as not to damage your camera sensor. The polarizing filter can go on top of that for sure, but just make sure you have a powerful neutral density filter first. Those can get pretty expensive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NO! You need a much higher level ND filter!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would advise against it due to the fact that it’s a polarizing filter that has to be rotated to achieve the desired effect. Meaning you would have to look directly in to the sun while adjusting the filter. Second, I don’t think it’s dark enough to filter out that kind of light. Hope that helps. Ps, you may look into an ND (neutral density) filter for that purpose
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would not. This is not an nd filter. It could damage the equipment
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. Don’t do that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know of no reason to use a polarizer to photograph an eclipse.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not usually just by itself. However if you want to shoot something ancillary to the eclipse like the 360 degree sunset or shadows of the partial sun through leaves, etc. then it would be great for that.
