“So is this bag waterproof or is it just the bottom that is waterproof? I’m looking for a bag that will keep my gear safe for multiple day long excursions in the wilderness.”

The bottom portion of the bag is 100% waterproof - which is significant since that part of the bag will have the most contact with the ground and moisture. The remainder of the bag is water resistant - so while you can't dunk it in a pool it will standup to some reasonable amount of moisture for a reasonable amount of time while you find a place to shelter. The vast majority of bags in this price point will not claim to have any amount of 'water-proofing' so this is a great value camera bag.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just the bottom is waterproof. I would stay away. This thing is extremely uncomfortable and the chest strap comes in just below you neck. It is way over priced and not very good at all. I would recommend the Lowepro Flipside 300 AW II .. it comes with a weather resistant cover that you can pull over it. And it has plenty of storage.
