My system did the same thing when I first hooked it up, try rest button or switch the plug-ins of the controllers around, or unplug it for 30 seconds then try again. Hope it works out for you.

If you using a PlayStation 4 controller you can sync up your controller with your unit by holding down the share button and the PS button at the same time for around 5 seconds this will allow your controller to sync up to your PlayStation

Yes, I understand. Try unplugging the controller and then plugging it back in. Then a cold reset. If that doesn't work then you can always try unplugging the system or moving the existing plug to another location.

Have you used a jump drive to add games? If so, that could be the issue. If not sounds like a defect to me? If you bought it for Christmas you can still return or exchange it!
