• no you dont have to set the size, it automatically does it for you. I also did large photos along with small photos and did an excellent job scannning

• You don't have to change any size settings. I scanned mixed sizes without any issues. And scanned stamp sized old contact prints to 5x7 sizes. Make sure you feed in the photos straight. The system takes care of the size. You may have to use the software to straighten the scans if your feeds are at an angle.

• You do not have to re-size for anything you scan. You simply put it in the tray, adjust the 'sizers' to the correct size to hold your document and scan it.
