You'd need some sort of converter from your lighting connector to a standard USB A connector to get that to work, or save your pictures to your computer from your phone over your lightning cable and then save them from the computer to this drive. There are flash drive products out there that have a lightning connector instead of a USB A which would probably work better for you. As for 4,000 pictures, it depends on how big the pictures are. If they're 1MB each that would be 4,000 pictures * 1MB = 4,000MB = 4GB. If the pictures are 10mb each it would take a 40GB drive to save them
