The light indicates that the flash drive is getting power. If your light is not on, it could just be the the LED went out, or that the port you have plugged the flash drive into is not giving the necessary amount of power for the Flash drive to work.

You don't really need a light to know it's on. There's manual stored in the drive itself. It's in the Docs.

I had the same issue only to realize the stick wasn’t inserted all the way. You may want to make sure it’s completely inserted.
