• I'm not too familiar with Mac books but you may have to change settings to recognize this unit.

• Your mac book doesn't like that drive . Is it made by an off brand by chance ? and have you tried it in others devices ? Have you confirmed that it even works? If so more than likely a bad drive or it's newer technology and the Mac book doesn't like it
