No, it reads much faster, but does flucuate depending on the file format. large picture files (1000 photos) can transfer at a wide range of 6 mb to 25 mb per second, depending on the size. I have transferred up to 20 GB in one transfer & it may takes between 10-20 minutes depending on the type & number of files transferred.

Yes, when used in a 2.0 device. It is 10X that when used in a 3.0 device. (30mb/s)
