Will this work inside a dell OptiPlex 790? null

Depends on which OptiPlex 790 you have. There are 4 sizes with that 1 model number. Minitower, Desktop, Small Form Factor, and Ultra Small Form Factor. This graphics card is considered half-height. The Minitower has a couple of full-height PCIe x16 slots it will fit into. The Desktop and Small Form Factor only have half-height slots, so the card will fit those too. The only one it won't fit is the Ultra Small Form Factor box. So, if you have that one, then no. But any of the other 3, it should fit with no problem.
