“Do I need to be a premium member to be able to win the elite Trainer box? I've talked to multiple people and they've only been premium subscribers that have won. I just don't understand if I'm entered at all for the elite trainer box.”

From a very small sample size the people (2) invited had Best Buy membership and the one not invited didn’t get an invite. On the next invite request only one of the two with membership, got accepted. Again non member didn’t get to buy. Not sure that is enough to know for sure.

Of course it’s completely random and I did not get invited to purchase many other items. I’m sure there are just a lot of people requesting invites. Hopefully Best Buy adds an option for some members only Pokemon TCG drops though. That would definitely make the membership more worth it for people who don’t usually shop at BestBuy a ton. Plus they’d also get a lot more money from Bots trying to hog all the online drops.
