• Yes, it comes with a chest strap. I find the chest straps are more accurate than the wrist.

• The FT7 does require a chest strap for it to record heart rate. If you're looking for something without a strap, look towards the Polar A360. It has a full compliment of not only the heart rate features you would expect from Polar, but also 24/7 activity tracking - Mike @ Polar USA

• Yes, the heart rate monitor does require a chest strap.
