• The chest transmitter that is sold with the FT7 picks up the electrical impulse of the heart and then transmits that information to the watch the user would be wearing. If there is something in vicinity that is producing an electrical impulse (like a pacemaker), then yes, erratic readings could show itself. - Mike @ PolarUSA
