“I have a Sony receiver and the speakers can be switched to send signals as large or small speakers. If switched to large it sends less signal to my subwoofer. How would these sound running them as small would it give me a good mid bass sound...thanks Stan”

If like a Denon or Marantz, the menu settings can adjust bass settings. Sending LF signals to the sub and front speakers when set to large. However, setting the Polk Audio XT20 bookshelf speakers to small is the recommended choice. If crossover adjustments are allowed in your Sony receiver, set the XT20 speakers to about 70 Hz. This should result in a much smoother sound.
