Maybe I misunderstood your question, & I am not an expert by any means, but a Bluetooth headset, in itself, cannot read or send text messages. Period. A wireless (Bluetooth) headset is merely a device that interfaces with a smart device such as a computer, iPhone, or Android or some such device, similar to how a wireless mouse or keyboard interfaces. Through an app such as Siri; (an iPhone app), you can command the smart device using the headset, to "Send a message to; (someone in your contact list)" and the smart device will do as you command and you can dictate a text message & send it. As far as getting the smart device, via the headset, to actually get & "read" a text message, I suspect that you would need to have a text to voice app. to do so. There is probably an app. to do so but I've not tried it. If there is an app. it would be cool as you wouldn't have to look at your smart device display. I hope that I have helped.
