Can o send a text from the device or only calls null

Yes, you can send a text with ease.

Yes you can send and have it read texts. At least it does with my IPhone 6. You can also listen to music, etc with it.

You can use talk to text with the Voyager. If your Voyager is turned on, but in your pocket, your phone won't hear your voice. If you turn it off, or wear it, then your phone will hear you.

You can make calls and text but need to download the app for it!!!

If your phone has an application that enables you to text via voice, you should be able to use the headset with that application. I know siri and S voice are able to do that.
