Yes the popsocket is attached. That's why I liked this particular one. As for the cards, you can insert the cards either way. You just want to make sure the fabric cut out is toward the bottom of your phone. This has been a wonderful impulse purchase!

The pop socket is already attached to the wallet, but it is “swappable” so you can change the disk part, if you like. 
I placed my card entry facing up. The card holder is advertised as able to hold 3, but I only carry my ID and one card, so far the cards have not became loose or fallen out.

They suggest you place in facing down . I thought the same however I get it now it securely holds it in place
