• The case is rigid. Perhaps not as sturdy as some other cases, but it isn't soft cover.

• Definitely a hard shelled case. More like cardboard than cloth. I sometimes have to shove it into my backpack while traveling (taking it in and out of my backpack at tsa) and I don’t worry about the Switch being damaged at all because of the hard shell case.

• It is a stiff material covered in fabric. Not rock-hard, but stronger than cardboard.
