No software -- 3 separate zones (top-middle-bottom) you select from a series of button sequences explained in its manual. You can choose to make it all zones "cool blue", "alien green", etc. or make each zone a different color. You can also make any zone "breathe" which merely elevator cycles the selected color. You also have an ON/OFF option for these LEDs at anytime.

Please try again later.There is a button on the back of the controller and once you press that and do a few other things you can set any of four colors into any of three areas. Light intensity is adjustable as is a flashing mode. Beyond the leds, it’s a great feeling controller also. Been using it for at least 6 months now.
