It does work with the Switch and is it rechargeable. It comes with the cable to charge it. It does not come with a charging dock it comes with a charging cable. You can plug it directly on the switch to charge. If your grandson's switch is the lite one that does not work with a TV only in handheld mode you can use an old phone charger with the cable that comes with it to charge. Finally there is no headphone jack on it

There is a headphone jack on it. You'd usually use this controller when hooking up the Switch to a TV to play off the TV. Hope this answered your questions! :-)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Fair warning some of them weren’t made right, and would strafe. So I had to return it because it was defective. My second one was perfect. It’s a really good controller. Solid, nice weight to it. It is rechargeable, no dock. It was come with a usb-c plug in to go into the switch. A separate dock is around 20. No headset jack, I’m hoping they develop a Bluetooth one. Nintendo does have a licensed app called Nintendo Switch online, that allows voice chat, but only 3 games are supported at the moment. I have several controllers for the switch. So far The Pro is my favorite and a 3rd party retro Super Nintendo I got offline
