The Nintendo Pro Controller can be used whether the Switch is operating handheld, on a stand, or docked. Just like with the Joy-cons, you can simply choose which controller is paired in which player position. Happy gaming!

Should be able to, you just can't charge it from the undocked system. You'll need a portable USB charger or a UBS wall charger for that
