I know that there's a controller calibration in the settings but that is for the sticks. I'd say if you use the d-pad in a game and it responds in all directions you have a working pad. Its not like its pressure sensitive, so its all or nothing with the pad. Mine hasn't given me any grief and I've used the daylights out of it and I can be pretty abusive to my gear.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The problem with the d-pad is that, unlike the joy-cons, there is not an individual button for each direction. This means pressure on one direction of the d-pad could also accidentally push down another direction. While this is fine for casuals and hardcore gamers because the d-pad is used minimally in many games (at least in comparison to the left joy-stick), this can be incredibly annoying for games that make HEAVY usage of the left d-pad. For instance, Hatsune Miku Project DIVA: Mega Mix, a rhythm game, can become difficult to play in harder game modes without perfect precision on the d-pad. This means that I have to instead use my joy-cons for this game. Overall, I would say the Pro controller is worth it for 99% of games on the console with few exceptions and that the d-pad is only annoying in minor cases.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, test while it is in wireless mode by running around. Then plug it in the conosle and repeat your test pattern. If it handles the same controller I fine. If it handles the same and controls seem crappy, blame the game lol.
