No, if you have a good enough WiFi connection you can play games via the steam link app on the horizon store. However the Quest link cable is still highly recommended for PCVR games.

Please try again later.You could use a USB-C has enough transfer speed to play Steam games, though the included cable is far too short to practically use, unless you’re sitting right next to your PC. Steam also has an app called “Steam Link”, where you can stream games from your PC to your headset over Wi-Fi, but this has the expected drawbacks (compressions artifacts, etc). For a better wireless option, you could dish out some money for “Virtual Desktop”, which offers a better experience overall.
