“I have Quickbooks Pro 2007 - only using it to keep track of expenses nothing else. Does Quicken have the ability to download my backup quick books to Quicken so I don't lose years and years of data.”

I have no idea of the two programs talk to each other. Call either company I’m sure they’ll let you know
