Yes, you need to physically connect the Rayneo Air 3S via USB-C to a device with a USB-C port with DisplayPort functionality (sometimes indicated as DP alt mode). There is no battery in the Rayneo Air 3S; the micro-OLED display on the glasses is powered by whatever device you plug into.
