Absolutely not! It is easily worth the money. Typically, in electronic gear, the price come down after the product has been around a while. Rather than reduce the price of existing models and causing previous buyers to feel cheated, they simply come out with new models. The existing programs will run on the new model and as with many other electronic devices, the actual manufacturing cost is not that great. It is completely solid state with no moving parts in electronics (only in the optics and straps). Since these devices were first introduced a few years ago, the market has become very competitive and what ever inducement they previously had to make to get partners to write programs and purchase the production equipment (360 degree cameras, has already been spent. There is a huge library of programs out there, and many people have already been encouraged to travel around the world making the products. There is a huge market for these people who were unwilling or unable to purchase them in years past (like me). I could not be more satisfied with mine and I am even considering purchasing my own camera so that I can take 360 degree videos and/or photos. The experience viewing these is just so much greater than viewing a flat photo or video. There are many more programs and videos than will fit at one time, but older less used and previously used content can easily be removed to make room for more.
