You do not have to pull the mic out to use it, but its not removable it just slides in and out. If the mic sensitivity is too high then it can pick up audio coming from your own headphones if not fully extended.

The microphone in the razer nari ultimate does not have to be pulled out to use it. You can toggle the microphone on and off in the razer synapse software or by muting the microphone with the dedicated mute button built into the headset.

You cannot use the microphone for several reasons. The mic quality is so terrible that it renders it non-functional as a microphone And the entire headset vibrates with the haptic feedback and the microphone, no matter your settings will ALWAYS pick this up, and will also pick up most of what you hear in the headset.' On top of that the microphone is directional with an incredibly narrow cone and in doesn't protract enough to actually reach a place where the directional pickup can reach your mouth
