Will this remote work with an older tv, (10 yrs old) null

I do not know about a 10 year old TV, but a lot of the buttons on the remote do not work for my TV and it may be 3-4 years old. I really only need it for volume, guide and to stroll up and down. When I try to use the number to go straight to channels it will not work.
