I have one mounted in the bedroom on top of the cabinet the TV sets in - not near a window. The other one does sit in the basement window as I thought it would work best there. Both work great. I haven't tried hooking up two TV's.

There is only one small cable from the TV to the antenna so run it along a corner or wood trim. Be sure to download the RCA Signal Finder App--it takes the guess work out of the correct direction to aim the antenna. I have attached 3 photos showing one of my antenna installations on top of a 6-shelf CD stack, about 8 feet away from the TV. 2. We have 3 different TVs in 3 different rooms and it definitely would be tacky to run a splitter and 3 different cables all over the house to the 3 different TVs. The RCA - Indoor Flat Amplified HDTV Antenna is only $40, and we can vouch for at least a 40 mile range. (Claims up to 55-miles reception range.) FWIW: We also have an $80 TERK - Indoor Flat Amplified HDTV Antenna on our primary TV, but we don't notice any significant difference between the $80 TERK and the $40 RCA.
