Does this battery fit a Nikon D-40 null

This battery will not fit the D40. The D40 takes the EL EN9

The battery that is used in the D40 is the EN-EL9. It is not the EN-EL14a. You might want to check Best Buy's site for this battery. The EN-EL14a is not made for the D40.
