“My android auto on a pixel 9xl keeps disconnecting and reconnecting on its own. Sometimes it happens hafer less than a minute, sometimes 15 minutes or more pass. My phone and android auto work perfectly in my other car. Is this a defective unit?”

I would say yes. We have three different android phones that this happens on - a Sonim XP Pro, a Moto G Power, and a Pixel 9a. The unit is useless to navigate with and we've only had it installed a month.
