• It comes with both, a hardwire kit AND a cig adapter. So you have a choice to use either one. Great all included flexibility.

• It can be powered by cig lighter but, most cars turn off cig power a short time after vehicle is shut-off so the motion sensor won't activate if the car is hit while parked, if you only use the cig lighter to power the dash cam
