“Hi, I've been using this headset for just under 18 months and the sound has cut out on the right-hand side. I've tried several solutions and I think it is an internal problem (wires). What should I do? How long would one of these headsets usually last??”

The life expectancy of the product is of at least a year, but this varies depending on the usage and on most cases it should be closer to 2-4 years. The issue might be related to the cable itself. Please try using any auxiliary 3.5mm cable and see if both ear cups work. This product has a one-year warranty from date of purchase.
