If you sign up for ring monitor, somebody from Ring monitoring center will call you or they will call the Police if they can not reach you just like ADT monitoring center. Ring has no sim card. It's connected to your wifi at home. You don't have to sign up ( it's only $10.00/month). Ring alarm will notify you through their app if somebody broke into your house. Hope this helps.
