QuestionHow does the alarm sound work if it detects an intruder. Does it shut off automatically after a certain period of time and what is that time? Also, once the alarm goes off, can it be shut off through your cell phone?

- Answer Hi bbq4rg, Great question. Your alarm will sound for 10 minutes before automatically shutting off. - Answer Self monitoring just makes noise and alerts you. You would then call the police incase of a break in ... or You can pay 10$ a month for professional monitoring and police will roll ... its cheaper than other security systems and it has a cellular backup incase your internet goes down... basically it's always online

QuestionI bought the ring doorbell 2, a Netgear extender for multiple devices, and a chime. Now I need a base station in order for the chime to work. BUT, the base station can only be purchased in a package. Why aren't we made aware of all that is needed upfro

- Answer If you’re talking about the chime device that works in conjunction with the ring doorbell 2 to let the doorbell chime be heard in other areas of your house, you do not need a base station of any kind for the chime to work. It connects to your WiFi just like the doorbell does. Don’t know where you heard that but it is bad information.

- Answer No it does not chirp, only the base unit does. Hopefully that will be an update in the future as I was hoping for the same.

- Answer Yes it does! I just installed my system and received an email advising me of the 30 day trial. When you sign up for monitoring it also includes discounts on other Ring items and a full warranty on your system for as long you have monitoring. The monitoring also includes your cameras and doorbell recordings at no extra charge. Great deal.

QuestionDoes it have a built in alarm? How loud and what decibel? Is it all fully wireless, minus the base?

- Answer Yes there is a built in alarm. I believe it is advertised at 104db. It is very loud and definitely serves it’s purpose. Everything IS wireless except the base. The instructions say to plug in the keypads but they work wirelessly too. We have ours wireless and I turned off the power save mode, that way when they detect motion on their little sensors it briefly lights up the buttons. Not sure how long the battery life will be, but I imagine it will be several months at least.

- Answer If a sensor is faulted when you try setting an armed mode, it will ask if you want to bypass the faulted sensors.

- Answer You can get Open alerts and/or Closed alerts. All in the settings, regardless, they will be in the event history.

- Answer Hi Warlock, Thanks for reaching out. Yes, your Ring Alarm will need to either be connected to your home WIFI network or through Ethernet in order for it to function. However, Your Ring Alarm usually communicates with you or your monitoring service through the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. Any time your Base Station loses its connection to the internet, regardless of the cause, a cellular backup system kicks in that will allow the system to continue to monitor your home. - Answer Ring has a 2018 product section. Indoor cameras are on the list along with several other attractive sensors and lighting products. They allow you to sign up for notification when they hit the market. As far as the "Brains", Ring has a base station which is separate from the key pads. It can be located and/or mounted out of ease of discovery and quick smash. The key pads and sensors (motion, door/window, and future ones) are Z-wave affixed to the base station.

- Answer I was able to install several motion sensors with no problems. Most of the time I use the Ring app instead of the keypads. The Ring Security is a great DYI security system.

- Answer Hi Ringingtheway, Thanks for reaching out. Ring Alarm will periodically check in even when the device is disarmed. Additionally, it is a radio signal in the 900 MHz ISM band. At this time, you are not able to disarm these signals, however, I will relay this request to the rest of my team and, hopefully, this is something that we will incorporate in the near future. - Answer The ring alarm kit comes with a range extender. I was able to get over 100ft away from my base with contact sensors mounted to the doors of one of my outbuildings.

QuestionSo, if this thing has motion sensors and it is set for night time would I have to deactivate it if I got up out of bed for any reason? Is it possible to have the alarm turned on while you're at home and NOT asleep?

- Answer Hi Luna, Setting your Ring Alarm to Home Mode should help with this. In Home mode, only certain sensors will be monitored. Home mode is most often used when you would like the perimeter sensors (doors and windows) of your house monitored but want to be able to move freely around the inside of your home.
