• Well, since this came up when I searched I will say that you can use a pair of splitters to inject and pick off the DC voltage from an ethernet cable. Just search for "Passive PoE Injector and PoE Splitter Kit with 5.5x2.1 mm DC Connector RJ45 Power Over Ethernet". This works with the supplied power supply so you don't use the POE from a switch. Hope this helps.

• You can connect the base station to your router using an ethernet cable (instead of connecting via WiFi), but that doesn't provide power. You'll still need to plug it into an electrical outlet.

• The power for the base station comes from an electrical outlet, but you can connect it via ethernet cable to your router if you choose.
