This was also a huge concern for me as well. I have 3 pets. A dog and 2 cats. The motion sensor can be adjusted to not trigger if an animal is moving around in your home. Per the ring specs on the motion sensor..it will not trigger for an animal that is less than 20 pounds on med setting or 50 pounds on low setting. I have my sensor on low setting and I have had no false alarms so far.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Alan, The Ring Alarm motion detectors use Passive Infrared sensors (PIR) to scan whatever room they're placed in. These detectors use heat to detect motion in the room and when a warm body like a human or animal passes in the area it is monitoring (its field of view) the sensor detects the change. The PIRs used in Ring Alarm, however, are "pet-friendly." That means they have settings which are calibrated to ignore heat sources from animals that are approximately 30 pounds or less (at medium setting) and 50 pounds or less (at low setting).
