What is contact sensor null

The contact sensor is what is attached to the doors or windows. Essentially it's like a magnet that when it's apart, the alarm will activate. They are battery powered (I think they last about 5 years, and it's a simple watch battery). They have a strong double sided tape that sticks to the door, and the frame, or window and frame
