• Hello, Thanks for reaching out. That is not too far. An easy way to confirm is to try opening and closing the door. Listen for the chime sound open opening, and have the app open to confirm. • Yes, they should be nearly touching, 1/2 inch if it works at all will likely give you a lot of false alarms.
