Asked by Bob.
- A:Answer Hello Bob, Ring Smart Lights including the Spotlight Battery, have light sensor feature that can be enabled to prevent the light from activating during the day. Q: QuestionDo you have to subscribe to or have other ring products for it to work?
Asked by Lee.
- A:Answer Hello Lee, Thank you so much for showing interest in our products and desiring to have more information regarding the optional Ring Protect Plan subscription. We want to ensure that we can answer any questions you may have concerning how the Ring Protect Plans work and how to save/share your videos, when necessary. Ring gives customers a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After the 30-days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan or not. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. Please see the following link for more information regarding the Ring Protect Plan and the benefits it offers: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001671383-General-Information-on-Ring-Protect-Subscription-Plans. Q: QuestionCan I attach the Ring to the brick that is on the outside of my house?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Ring provides screws and plugs. Most likely you can drill into the bricks, insert the plugs, and screw the screws into the plugs. That is what I planned to do. However, the range of the motion detector is a problem for me. I want to deter a graffiti artist who climbs onto a roof of a garage to paint on the wall of our building. The motion detector is great, but it does not detect motion that is more than 25 feet away. So I am going to use the light in another location. I put the new 10 year batteries into it. Hope they last a few years.

Q: QuestionCan this device be installed to concrete ?
Asked by Anna.
- A:Answer Hello Anna, Great question! Yes, the Ring Smartlight Spotlight can be installed on concrete. Please see the following instructions: Hold the mounting plate firmly against the surface and drive the three mounting screws. If installing on a masonry surface, use the mounting plate as a template to mark pilot holes, making sure the “up” arrow is pointing upward. Then drill the holes and insert the anchors. Insert your Spotlight back into the base at your chosen angle and tighten the locking screw. To adjust the vertical angle, loosen the side screw, rotate to the desired position, and tighten the screw. For more information on how to install the Ring Smart Spotlight, please see our help center article: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022973012-Setting-Up-and-Installing-your-Spotlight. Thank you, Jamila, with Ring.

Q: QuestionHow does it fair in the winter?
Asked by Kay.
- A:Answer Hello Kay, Great question! This depends on your local weather and some critical temperatures. Extremely cold weather has unfortunate effects on lithium-ion batteries such as those used in Ring devices. As the temperature drops, these batteries begin to have trouble holding a charge and if it gets cold enough, they'll stop working altogether. As a result, at certain temperatures, the batteries in your Ring device may run out of power faster than expected and may need to be recharged more often. The following are key temperatures to watch out for in regard to your batteries: 36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in you having to charge the unit more frequently. 32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery. -5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up. Here is an article that elaborates a bit further on cold weather and battery operated Ring cameras: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042686872-Cold-Weather-and-Battery-Powered-Ring-Cameras. Q: QuestionI asked how far away from house can I place this light. response was '' I keep mine close to my house.'' I have a long driveway and want to be in touch with this light through my Ring system. I want to be alerted sooner than the Ring cameras / lights .
Asked by EARS.
- A:Answer Hello EARS, Happy to help. Ring Smart Lighting lights run on a power efficient, long-range RF Network. This network has an average range of 200ft(66yards). The Bridge converts the RF signals to wifi to deliver information from the system to you in the form of alerts or diagnostic information. It also translates commands from you sent on wifi to the RF network to control the lights. We would love to connect with you, will you reach out to our support team as soon as possible? All the best, Antonio from Ring
