No, it will work for that but I personally did not have much luck with the chime pro. It tends to overheat and shutdown. I recommend the netgear extenders. I am using the 1900 for my ring cameras and it works great.

Please try again later.I think it only extends the wifi connection between the doorbell & chime, not your entire house's regular wifi for other internet connections & uses. But even then, I had trouble linking it up with the doorbell & my existing wifi. Once, finally connected, it's been working ok. It did go offline twice before but not my doorbell.
