  • Questionwhat is the difference between ring chime pro wifi extender model 8ac1p6-oeno sku 5129501 and the ring chime pro model 8ac1pz-oeno sku 6396015? thanks

    Asked by clarify.

    • Answer The Ring Chime Pro 8AC1PZ is the latest version of the Ring Chime with WiFi extender; besides the obvious aesthetics improvements ( better looking finish and not external antennas) the big changes are under the hood. The new Ring Chime Pro 8AC1PZhas dual-band 2.4 GHz & 5.0 GHz network connectivity; it also has a built-in night light that can be turn on or off. Set it up to my Ring doorbell video was a breeze, including the ring tones and alarms. I hook it up the backyard camera to the extender and now works like a charm. As a plus, it look good in my dinning room because of its stylish design and a night time the building-in night light keeps the area visible. I'm glad I waited patiently when I pre-ordered my Ring Doorbell Video 3 along with the Ring Chime Pro 8AC1PZ.

  • QuestionDo I need to purchase the Ring Doorbell to use this product? I only want to purchase it to assist my Ring Stickup camera.

    Asked by LolaHeartBestBuy.

    • Answer You do not need to buy the ring doorbell to use this item. It can be used as a wifi extender. You connect the ring camera to the ring chime using the wifi connect and then your camera will be using the chime wifi instead of the camera. Honestly, I bought this exactly to use it as a wifi extender even though I do have the ring doorbell but I am slightly not too happy with it. I have a total of 3 cameras around the house plus the doorbell and the wifi sucks. I'm not sure if it's the chime itself or if it could just mean that my internet provider isn't very good but it does a good job with atleast one of the cameras, not the rest.

  • QuestionShould I keep my ring door bell connected to my wifi router or connect to the chime?

    Asked by Ash1028.

    • Answer It depends on what problem you're trying to solve. The Chime Pro is both a doorbell extender (I can't hear the doorbell in parts of my house) AND a WiFi extender (my doorbell has a weak WiFi connection to my home network). You can use it for both or either one alone. If your Ring doorbell has a problem staying connected to your WiFi router or has a weak WiFi signal, then plug in the Chime somewhere between the doorbell and WiFi router and connect the doorbell to the Chime network. The Chime Pro will boost the WiFi signal to ensure your doorbell stays connected. (It will also chime when your doorbell rings unless you turn that function off.) If your doorbell signal is not a problem, leave the Doorbell connected directly to WiFi and put the chime somewhere in the house where you need a doorbell but can't hear the home doorbell. In my home, I have a Chime Pro just 10 ft from my home doorbell. The doorbell has no problem accessing my WiFi, but two cameras mounted under the eaves outside cannot connect to WiFi reliably. My Chime Pro is acting like a WiFi extender so the cameras work great, But I turned off the doorbell function on this Chime because I don't need two separate doorbell sounds 10 ft from each other. I also have a separate Chime Pro in an upstairs utility room because we couldn't hear the house doorbell in the upstairs bedroom. Now we can.

  • QuestionCan I use the ring-chime pro with a nest doorbell?

    Asked by Richard.

    • Answer Short answer is no, however if you have a smart home system that works with both ring and nest products then there is a work around. Problem is ring is owned by Amazon and Nest is owned by Google so they are direct competitors and don't make it easy to crossplay.

  • QuestionWith this chime pro, do i also need to get an alarm extender? Or will this also work as one?

    Asked by Jane.

    • Answer No, it will work for that but I personally did not have much luck with the chime pro. It tends to overheat and shutdown. I recommend the netgear extenders. I am using the 1900 for my ring cameras and it works great.

  • QuestionWill the Ring door bell button work with my existing wired door bell on the wall inside the house ? Thank you

    Asked by Larry.

    • Answer Hello Larry, Great question! The Ring Doorbell Wired uses an included jumper cable to bypass your home’s internal chime kit, so it will not ring inside. If you’d like audio notifications inside your home, you’ll need to purchase a Ring Chime to hear them. All of Ring’s other battery and hardwired doorbell models (Ring Doorbell Pro, Ring Doorbell Pro 2, Ring Doorbell (2020 Release), Ring Doorbell 3/3+, and Ring Doorbell 4) will work with in home chime kits and AC current doorbell transformers.
