Yes, you need a Switch console to play the game. You, theoretically could use the Switch Lite as well but you’d need separate joy con controllers and would have to look at the small screen so a standard Switch model is best. There is a ‘Multitask Mode’ where the Ring Con will record your reps when you don’t have the game on, but you need to head back to the game, on the console, to retrieve that data.
