Good question. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus security cam requires a hardwired connection and must be installed on a 4“ round UL-listed weatherproof electrical box. It does not have a battery backup option.

If he shuts the power off you lose internet anyway. With alarm alert you’ll know if anyone is around your home.

You are correct. I had a power outage shortly after purchase and they didn't work. They will also not work if the wifi goes out. You can't even use them as lights. i had a solar light over my driveway. I left it up when I installed the ring camera, good thing I did.
