Do you need a monthly service plan for this to continue to work or only if you want to preserve recordings? I only need something like this to view real time only and am not interested in purchasing an on going plan null

No you dont have to be on a plan, the plan only covers cloud storage if it's just for live view you just need it to be hooked up to your wifi and download the app

I paid 30 a year for one device more then one is 100 a year no monthly fees, you can view in real time without a subscription
